Venture Concept 1

My opportunity is that college campuses all over are becoming less and less spacious. Students are moving into campus areas as the young population grows and the typical student is living further and further from campus. There is a need for students who are unable to make their way to campus. They need to get to campus for things like studying. I think that as more and more students are getting further and further from campus the student needs a better way to get to campus. This opportunity will last for awhile into the future until for some reason fewer people start going to college. Students are satisfying this need by biking to campus and taking the bus. This will not be satisfactory for long.

My product is a service to drive college students onto campus for a monthly fee at their beck and call. I think the typical fee will be $40, and will change the way students get to and from campus. They won't have to ride on a bus, and they will just hit a button on an app that gets them to where they are going. I think this will create a market for people who are willing to pay for a taxi service but don't want to pay every time.

I have innovated a way for students to get to campus by way of a monthly fee that will be much less frustrating than finding parking on campus. I think that no one else will be using this service because it will be so difficult to break into the market once someone has the entirety of the market share. No one else will be offering this service and I think there is an adequate opportunity that will meet my need.

  1. Unbelievable, this is the third blog I was assigned to comment on and have not completed the assignment properly.

  2. First let me defend from the first guy by saying the assignment is up to 1000 words not 1000 words or more. Anyway, I think your service is a great idea I just think you should clarify a couple things. First is it an unlimited amount of rides to and from campus for the month you paid for? Second will it only drive the student to and from the campus or will it go to places near the campus as well like midtown? Here’s a link to my blog if you want to check it out.

    1. Hey Nicholas,
Thanks. That guy was a jerk. Best of luck.

  3. William,

It's kind of funny that Dallin said your post wasn't long enough - even though it was - when the comments have to be 60 words at least, and I don't think his was! What a hypocrite.

Driving students onto campus is an interesting idea. 40$ a month is about what someone could be spending on gas, which is a good selling point. Like Nicholas said, there are some specifics to work out, but the actual idea I think could be a hit. Although, how would this compare to something like Uber?

Keep up the good work and feel free to check out my blog post here http://taylorjnoe.blogspot.com/2016/03/venture-concept-no-1.html

  4. Hey William,

sorry that you had to deal with such ignorance. We're here to be supporters by providing constructive criticism, not be pompous jerks. That being said, I would definitely consider being a customer, but I am hesitant. For someone that has to live on a tight budget, I'm dissuaded to spend $40 monthly for a service I can get for free through public transportation.

However, if I did have that luxury, I wouldn't think twice about using this service. I'd sign up immediately because this would save me so much time considering I live on the opposite side of town. Campus is a 40 minute bus ride for me, and that's not very fun.

    Great idea!
